Farm Stop Application

Organization: Grow Jackson

Location: Jackson, MI

Schedule: Part-time

Compensation: $15-$17 / hr (Pay increase available for bilingual Spanish)

Position Overview

Grow Jackson is seeking part-time grocers and coordinators (Foodmongers) to support

the daily operations of the River & Rail Farm Stop, a mission-driven, locally-sourced

neighborhood grocery, café and tavern. These are exciting opportunities to join Grow

Jackson as founding members of the Farm Stop team.

These roles blend retail, local food sales, and community-centered customer service.

These positions are ideal for someone who loves food, thrives in a hands-on role, and

wants to participate in building a local food infrastructure in Jackson.

Key Responsibilities (Grocers & Coordinators)

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the Farm Stop and Café.

  • Provide exceptional customer service, fostering a welcoming environment and resolving customer concerns promptly and compassionately.

  • Restocking to ensure products are well-presented, available, and aligned with customer demand.

  • Ensure store cleanliness, organization, food safety compliance, and adherence to operational policies and procedures.

  • Use point-of-sale systems, handle cash, and complete sales transactions.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and coordinate maintenance of store, café, and operational equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.

  • Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including coffee, tea, specialty drinks, and alcoholic beverages.

  • Operate coffee equipment, such as espresso machines, blenders and grinders.

  • Check customer identification to meet legal age requirements when purchasing alcoholic beverages.

  • Other job duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities for Coordinators

Coordinators will have additional responsibilities. They will also support the General

Manager, Grocery Manager, and Café Manager in completing their key responsibilities

as needed, which may include:

  • Maintaining relationships with farmers and producers.

  • Working closely with and communicating well with managers.

  • Maintaining accurate records related to deliveries, sales, inventory, and waste, and preparing reports for management and producers as needed.

  • Leading day-to-day operations as needed.
